The Avon Valley
Rating
8.41
ranking: 45

The Avon Valley area encompasses Brookton in the south, to New Norcia in the north and the towns of Beverley, Brookton, Goomalling, Northam, York and Toodyay.

Explore the unique charm of the country towns of the area and shop for arts, crafts and antiques. Or discover the history of the Avon Valley by visiting the various museums. Adventure activities in the area include hot air ballooning, gliding, white water rafting and sky diving.

As Western Australia's first inland settlement, York offers unique insights into a rich and colorful past both before and following European settlement in 1831. York boasts a range of historic buildings that have been classified by the National Trust and is home to the annual Music and Jazz Festival and a range of other events and festivals.

The Multiplex Avon Descent is held annually on the first weekend in August and is the only event in the world where power craft race paddle craft. Competitors come from around the globe to Northam where the event covers 133 kilometres of the Avon and Swan Rivers.

Location: the Avon Valley is located about an hour’s drive east of the city of Perth.
