The Valley of the Giants / Tree Top Walk
Rating
8.69
ranking: 27

The Valley of the Giants and the Tree Top Walk are located to the east of the town of Walpole in the Walpole-Nornalup National Park. The Walpole-Nornalup National Park comprises 20,000 hectares of towering karri and tingle forests, as well as stunning coast and rivers.

The Valley of the Giants was named after the giant red tingle trees that are found in the area. The site includes a boardwalk through a grove of some of the area’s oldest tingle trees, known as the Ancient Empire. The base of some of the trees in the Ancient Empire measure up to 16 metres in circumference.

The Tree Top Walk comprises a series of lightweight steel trusses built on steel pylons to form a secure ramp. The walkway is a 600 metre loop that extends across a deep gully of red tingle trees.

The highest point of the walk is 40 metres, though the gradient is gentle, making the walk suitable for wheelchair access and visitors of all walking capabilities.

Location: the Walpole-Nornalup National Park is located 114 kilometres west of Albany, or 61 kilometres west of Denmark. It is 422 kilometres south east of the city of Perth.

Makes your heart sing with pride that we have these beautiful trees in our state. Makes you humble knowing they will be around long after we have gone!!

It is wonderful to think that this icon is still here, when Tasmania is losing so much of theirs. My great grandchildren growing up have a lot to look forward to in their heritage here.

A tree top walk second to none and the boardwalk supplements it perfectly and is very picturesque especially when the wild flowers are out.

Beautiful ancient forest. Fascinating tinglewood trees and well planned platform and boardwalk so that everyone can view without causing damage. Just magic!

I had always wanted to do the Tree Top Walk but was afraid of the height. A few years ago I decided to overcome my fear and walked the tree top. Whilst it was a little bit scary it was well worth the experience and magical view. It was so relaxing.

This is a wonderful, natural part of the south west, the tree top walk is a miracle how it has been created to be able to walk amongst the trees.
