The Golden Triangle is a scenic drive that incorporates the towns of Nannup, Balingup and Bridgetown in the south west of Western Australia.
The towns are of unique and historical significance – located within spectacular scenery.
This drive trail follows the Blackwood River and the Balingup Brook; incorporating an impressive and unfogettable vista of the countryside that surrounds the Nannup, Balingup and Bridgetown areas.
Highlights of the drive include the Karri Valley, Birdwood Park, the Tinderbox and the Old Cheese Factory.
Location:
- The town of Balingup is located 236 kilometres south of Perth and 31 kilometres south east of Donnybrook. Balingup is said to be named after the Aboriginal warrior, Balingan.
- Bridgetown is situated on the Blackwood River between Greenbushes and Manjimup. It is 262 kilometres south east of Perth, or 95 kilometres south east of Bunbury. The Aboriginal name for the area is Geegelup. Bridgetown has been granted ‘historic town’ status by the National Trust of Australia.
- Nannup is located 277 kilometres south of Perth, or 61 kilometres south east of Bunbury. It is 47 kilometres west of Bridgetown. The name is of Aboriginal origin and is said to mean ‘stopping place’.
