The track follows the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge, which provides walkers with spectacular geological scenery such as granite outcrops, limestone cliffs, stretches of white beach and sand dunes. Another highlight of the walk is the variety of plant life, as the track loops inland to incorporate coastal and forest environments.
The Cape to Cape track has numerous access points, providing a range of walking options. Options include walks that take a couple of hours, overnight hikes, or the entire 135 kilometres can be walked over 5 to 7 days. Camping facilities and other accommodation is available on or near the track.
Sections of the track are wheelchair friendly:
- Cape Naturaliste Lighthouse – the first 2.2 kilometres of the Cape to Cape Track is a sealed path that provides easy access for wheelchairs. This section of the walk incorporates views of the Indian Ocean and Sugarloaf Rock.
- Ellensbrook Homestead to Meekadarabee Falls – this paved path and boardwalk extends for one kilometre from the historic Ellensbrook Homestead to Meekadarabee Cave and falls.
- Ellensbrook Beach – a 200 metre paved track leads to a coastal lookout that provides stunning views of Ellensbrook Beach.
