The Savannah Way links Broome in Western Australian with Cairns in tropical north Queensland via Katherine in the Northern Territory.
This is a road trip like no other; spanning 3,699 kilometres and including 700 kilometres of unsealed road. The Savannah Way incorporates one third of Australia’s World Heritage areas; including five World Heritage listed sites and 15 national parks.
The tropical savannahs cover 1.9 million square kilometres (or about a quarter of mainland Australia) and comprise 19 bioregions across two states and one territory. They are home to an extraordinary variety of plants and animals, many of which are unique to Australia and this very special environment.
Whether exploring just a section or traversing the entire route, the Savannah Way really does provide an unforgettable experience.
