Granite and Woodlands Discovery Trail

The Granite and Woodlands Discovery Trail stretches 300 kilometres from Norsemen to Hyden and Wave Rock.

The trail incorporates the upgraded all weather gravel Hyden-Norseman Road and the temperate woodlands of the area, while providing visitors with an alternate route to the Goldfields or Esperance.

The landscape of the area comprises a combination of heath, granite outcrops and eucalypt woodlands.

Highlights of the trail include:

    • Wave Rock and the new walk circuit.
    • The Woodlands Walk, which is located near Norseman.
    • The informative walk trails that surround McDermid and Disappointment Rocks.
    • The spectacular salt playas (pans) of Lake Johnston and Lake Cowan.
    • The Breakaways camp site.
    • Over 80 species of eucalypt; 16% of the total number found in Australia.
    • The seasonal display of a huge variety of wildflowers.

Location: Hyden is located 340 kilometres south east of the city of Perth. Norseman is located  187 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie, or 204 kilometres north of Esperance.

Very isolated area, great if your a nature lover. Wave Rock is a great land sight to see.
