The Granite and Woodlands Discovery Trail stretches 300 kilometres from Norsemen to Hyden and Wave Rock.
The trail incorporates the upgraded all weather gravel Hyden-Norseman Road and the temperate woodlands of the area, while providing visitors with an alternate route to the Goldfields or Esperance.
The landscape of the area comprises a combination of heath, granite outcrops and eucalypt woodlands.
Highlights of the trail include:
- Wave Rock and the new walk circuit.
- The Woodlands Walk, which is located near Norseman.
- The informative walk trails that surround McDermid and Disappointment Rocks.
- The spectacular salt playas (pans) of Lake Johnston and Lake Cowan.
- The Breakaways camp site.
- Over 80 species of eucalypt; 16% of the total number found in Australia.
- The seasonal display of a huge variety of wildflowers.
Location: Hyden is located 340 kilometres south east of the city of Perth. Norseman is located 187 kilometres south of Kalgoorlie, or 204 kilometres north of Esperance.
