Coral Bay Manta Rays
Rating
8.51
ranking: 36

Coral Bay is a marine paradise which features the world renowned Ningaloo Reef and its dazzling underwater gardens, just metres from the pristine white shore.

Swimming with the Manta rays is a popular year round interactive experience at Coral Bay.

Like whale sharks, Manta rays are filter feeders, feeding on plankton and krill. Their wing span can measure up to nine metres and they can move swiftly in open water – up to 24 kilometres per hour. Manta rays can weigh up to 1,500 kilograms. Manta rays have cephalic lobes that protrude out from the snout, a broad rectangular mouth and a short, barbless tail. They are safe swimming companions.

There are many ways to explore the Coral Bay area and Ningaloo Reef: watch from the comfort of a glass bottom boat, sea kayak or jump in and snorkel or dive. Land based activities include exploring the beaches on a four-wheel quad bike tour or viewing the beauty of the reef from a scenic flight.

Location: Coral Bay is located 140 kilometres south of Exmouth and is 1,200 kilometres north of Perth.

Depends on the way the rays are on the day - hard to keep up! Great experience all the same, and just being on/in the ocean at Coral Bay is world class. The biodiversity and abundance of life is just awesome.

What an amazing thing to do. They are so flighty and fast. Hard to keep up but well worth the effort. They are also in Coral Bay all year round which is a plus.
