The Carnarvon Heritage Precinct comprises the Carnarvon One Mile Jetty, the Carnarvon Tramway and the Lighthouse Keepers Cottage Museum.
These attractions are the remaining historical elements of the port of Carnarvon, which was initially constructed in 1897.
- One Mile Jetty – built in 1897, visitors can walk or take the ‘Coffee Pot’ train along One Mile Jetty to view the mouth of the Gascoyne River.
- The Tramway and Town Walk Trail – is three kilometres long and is marked by interpretive signs. The walk extends from the Tramway Bridge on Olivia Terrace in the town centre to One Mile Jetty. The Tramway Bridge across the Gascoyne River was constructed during the 1900s to transport goods between the port of Carnarvon and the town centre. Visitors have the opportunity to explore the ‘Kimberley’ – the last of the steam trains to operate in the north of Western Australia.
- The Lighthouse Keeper’s Cottage Museum – the cottage was built around 1900 to house the lighthouse keeper and his family and was used until the 1970s.
Location: Carnarvon is located 905 kilometres north of the city of Perth.
